##### Wisdom, Values, and Vision — Governor Haribhau Bagde Inspires Graduates at SPSU’s 12th Convocation

The 12th Convocation Ceremony of Sir Padampat Singhania University (SPSU), Udaipur, held on October 28, 2025, was a magnificent celebration of knowledge, growth, and achievement. The grand academic event was graced by Hon’ble Governor of Rajasthan, Shri Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, as the Chief Guest. In his inspiring address, the Governor emphasized that a convocation marks not the end of education but the beginning of its application in real life. He urged the graduating students to use their learning in the service of nation-building, with humility, wisdom, and compassion.

“A convocation is not the end of education, but the beginning of the journey to apply knowledge in real life,” Governor Bagde remarked, inspiring the graduates to dedicate their intellect and skills to the mission of Viksit Bharat. He reminded the youth to remain grounded and to let knowledge guide them toward service and integrity, rather than arrogance.

The Spirit of Time and Responsibility

Highlighting the importance of time management, the Governor spoke about India’s ancient wisdom that the first 25 years of life should be devoted to learning and self-development. “Time cannot be purchased from any store — use it wisely,” he advised, encouraging students to plan their lives with purpose and clarity.

A Message of Discipline — Even in Small Acts

Citing an anecdote about G.V. Mavalankar, the first Speaker of the Indian Parliament, the Governor shared a valuable lesson against food wastage. “If we fill our plates beyond our capacity and let food go to waste, it reflects poor planning,” he said, linking simple habits to larger values of discipline, self-control, and foresight.

Vision for a Developed India by 2047

Governor Bagde reiterated India’s collective vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047 — the centenary of independence. He called upon the youth to take pride in India’s cultural heritage and contribute to national growth through innovation and research. Referring to the valor and legacy of Mewar, he encouraged students to draw inspiration from India’s rich knowledge traditions and commit themselves to public service.

A Celebration of Academic Excellence

The convocation ceremony witnessed the conferring of degrees upon 331 graduates from the Faculties of Engineering and Management. The occasion was presided over by Chancellor and Chairperson Dr. Nidhupati Singhania, whose visionary leadership continues to steer the university toward excellence.

In her address, Dr. Nidhupati Singhania congratulated the graduating students and their families, expressing pride in the university’s growing global footprint and its strong foundation of ethics and sustainability. She reaffirmed the university’s commitment to holistic education that blends technological advancement with human values. “Our mission is not just to create successful professionals, but responsible citizens who contribute meaningfully to society,” she emphasized.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Prithvi Yadav, in his presidential address, highlighted the transformation of SPSU as Rajasthan’s first Sustainable University. He outlined the university’s new-age initiatives — strategic industry-academia partnerships, international collaborations, pioneering research, and the establishment of Centers of Excellence — that have positioned SPSU at the forefront of higher education. Dr. Yadav urged the students to be ambassadors of positive change and to uphold the values of creativity, empathy, and sustainability in all their endeavors.

Honouring Excellence — Honoris Causa Awards and Medals

The university conferred Honorary Doctorate Degrees (Honoris Causa) upon three eminent personalities for their distinguished contributions in their respective domains:

Shri Cedric D’Souza, accomplished Hockey Coach

A Gathering of Visionaries and Leaders

The grand ceremony was attended by a distinguished gathering that included Dr. Raghavpat Singhania, Managing Director, JK Cement Ltd.; Mr. Madhavkrishna Singhania, Joint MD & CEO, JK Cement Ltd.; Shri Ajay Kumar Saraogi, Deputy MD & CFO, JK Cement Ltd.; Col. (Dr.) Sanjay Sinha, Vice President & Head of Education, JK Cement Education Vertical; Shri Mangal Dev, Head, Hitachi Railway Systems (Business India & South Asia); Prof. Nalinaksh Vyas, IIT Kanpur; and Shri Dhruv Agarwal, President Strategy, Paramount Communications Ltd.

A Grand Occasion of Pride and Purpose

Registrar, Deans, Deputy Deans, faculty members, students, alumni, media representatives, and distinguished guests from academia and industry added to the grandeur of the event. Earlier in the day, Governor Bagde was warmly received at Maharana Pratap Airport, Dabok by senior administrative officials before proceeding to the SPSU campus at Bhatewar.

The ceremony concluded with an atmosphere of joy, inspiration, and patriotism. The 12th Convocation of SPSU was not merely a formal event — it was a celebration of wisdom, values, and vision. It reaffirmed the university’s dedication to nurturing leaders who will shape India’s sustainable and progressive future.

“Use knowledge for nation building — that is the true purpose of education,” said Governor Bagde, leaving behind a message that will continue to inspire generations of scholars at SPSU.
